An interesting layer in the UK’s fear and economic instability story is an incredibly tight labour market. The UK’s unemployment is at 3.8% — the lowest since 1974. Employers are feeling this labour crunch — nearly three-quarters of HR professionals (72%) expect the competition for well-qualified talent to increase, and nearly two-thirds (61%) predict further difficulty in recruiting senior and skilled employees over the next three years according to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Even though hiring permanent positions may be more difficult for UK-based organisations in the current economic landscape, there is an enormous opportunity for firms to take advantage of contingent workforce solutions.
